IB Project Las Tareas Domesticas y Actividades de Ocio
02/19/20 Criterion B (quiz), Understand when reading in Spanish.
Students will use their textbook and they will read a letter from a diary in Spanish about the chores around the house. Then, students will answer 4 comprehending questions about the text. Students are allowed to use their journals, notes, textbooks, and the board as reference.
02/21/20 Criterion A (test), Understand and comprehend when listening in Spanish.
Students will watch and listen a video about chores around the house (tareas domesticas and/or quehaceres) and activities done during free time in the house (actividades de ocio). The video will be played multiple times, students will make a list of the chores and activities done during free time that they hear from the video and then they will answer 8 comprehending questions. Students are allowed to use their journals, notes, textbooks, and the board as reference.
Week 27 02/24/20 - 02/28/20
IB Project Las Tareas Domesticas y Actividades de Ocio
02/24/20 Criterion C and D (project), Writing and speaking in Spanish.
Students will create a sales flyer advertising a cleaning company. Students must have: name of the company, a list of their services and a short explanation of their services, what will be done in each room of the house, and which furniture and objects will be taken care of, logo, slogan, and prices. Include images, drawings or printed pictures for your flyer. Everything must be done in Spanish. Students will present and make the publicity of their company in Spanish in front of the class.

Students will start presenting their cleaning companies in front of the class in Spanish. Students will answer 5 questions about their company in Spanish.

Good morning Franklin Academy families,
Hope everyone is having a SAFE and HEALTHY Spring Break!
On Monday, 3/30/2020, we continue our instruction via our Virtual Learning Plan, (VLP). By now, you've received emails from your child(ren)'s teachers to join Google Classrooms and even some practice ZOOM sessions. It's been wonderful to "see" our students and hear their voices again!
Attached is an etiquette document with some reminders for the live 'office hours' that each teacher will be conducting. Please review with your child before Monday, 3/30/2020. Thank you again for being our partner in education, together, we will take on this new journey and have a great start to quarter four!

Unit 3: Guatemala. How to shop in the context of Mayan culture, the Guatemalan's historic cities, and its currency, the quetzal.
The prefixes: "a" and "an" (un, una, unos, unas) and "the" (el, la, los, las).
Vocabulario: Expresiones utiles
- to ask for prices: Cuanto cuesta(n)?
- to give prices: Cuesta(n) diez quetzales
- to ask for and give reasons: Por que no llevas los zapatos?
Porque las sandalias son mas autenticas
- To say something is (not) in style: Esta de moda. No esta de moda
- To say something is (not) on sale: Esta en oferta. No esta en oferta
- To ask at what time a store opens/closes: A que hora abre la tienda?

Expressions used for shopping and new vocabulary words used for shopping. Regular verbs that end in ar, er, and ir. How to say the time and how to inquiry about schedules, the different types of stores, and actions associated with shopping.

Names of basic articles of clothing and footwear
Vocabulario: La ropa
la/una chaqueta, la/una camisa, los/unos pantalones, el/un sueter, una/la blusa, la/una falda, los/unos jeans
La ropa de invierno: Tengo frio
la/una bufanda, el/un gorro, los/unos guantes
La ropa de verano: Tengo calor
el/un sombrero, la/una camiseta, los/unos pantalones cortos
El calzado: los/unos zapatos, los/unos tenis, las/unas botas, las/unas sandalias, los/unos calcetines

Express likes or dislikes using the verb Gustar (to like). The verb gustar is a regular verb but it is used in the form of singular and plural (me gusta, no me gusta - me gustan, no me gustan). The verb gustar requires the object pronouns: me, te. le. nos, les.
Listen, write, and talk about shopping, clothing, and footwear using the vocabulary learned. Read and talk about the likes and dislikes in the context of shopping and clothing.
Week 35 04/27/20 - 05/01/20
Irregular verbs = stem-changing verbs in present tense. Students will practice verb Tener (to have), learned in Unit 2, the verb ir (to go), and cerrar (to close).
The use the verb ir with places to express going to a place.
Auxiliary verbs: querer (to want) and tener que (have to).
Words related to shopping and stores, expressions used by sellers and clients, and as always, the use of gender and number, definite articles with nouns.
Irregular verb preferir (to prefer) and regular verb llevar (to wear)
Week 36 05/04/20 - 05/08/20
To describe and buy clothes and footwear, the words to talk about materials, colors, and descriptions for clothes and footwear. To express where something or someone is located in relation to the speaker using demonstrative adjectives and pronouns.
Structures used to make comparisons with adjectives. Objects can be the same or different (iguales or diferentes)
Estas camisas son iguales. Estos sombreros son diferentes.
Comparisons can also be made with other adjectives: mas...que (more...than) or menos...que (less...than)
mas + adjective + que (La camisa es mas bonita que la blusa)
menos + adjective + que (La falda es menos comoda que los pantalones)
To express quality: tan...como (as...as)
tan + adjective + como (La camisa es tan estrecha como la blusa)
Adjetivos de valor comparativo (bueno, malo, mejor, mejores, peor, peores)
Este vestido es mejor que esa falda. La falda es peor que este vestido.
Vocabulario: Describir la ropa y el calzado
Caracteristicas: estrechos(as), ancho(a), largo(a), cortos(as)
Materiales: de lana, de algodon, de cuero
Colores: rojo, amarillo, azul, morado, anaranjado, blanco, verde, rosado, negro
Demostrative adjectives:
near: este, esta, estos, estas
at a distance: ese, esa, esos, esas
far away: aquel, aquella, aquellos, aquellas
Adjetivos de valor comparativo: good (bueno) and bad (malo)have their own comparative forms: better (mejor, mejores), worse (peor, peores)

me queda grande, me queda mal, me queda pequeno, no es de mi talla, me queda bien, Cuanto cuestan estos pantalones? Cuestan diez quetzales, estan en oferta, no quiero gastar mucho dinero, puedo pagar con tarjeta?
